TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

A weak tropical wave is expected to cause some scattered showers mainly over the southern part of the region.

At 500 PM today, the center of Tropical Storm Dolly was located near latitude 13.7 North, longitude 40.7 West or about 1425 miles east of the Leeward Islands. Dolly is

moving toward the west near 24 mph (39 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days. On the forecast track, this system should be nearing the Leeward Islands this weekend.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Dolly is forecast to

degenerate into a tropical wave before it reaches the Leeward Islands.

 Heavy rain from this system could begin to affect the

Leeward Islands late Saturday into Sunday. This heavy rain may

produce flash flooding, especially in areas of higher terrain.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

An approaching tropical wave will produce periods of cloudiness, scattered showers, and isolated thunderstorms over the southern portion of the region from late tonight and may spread northward over the rest of the islands as time progresses. The tropical wave is moving quickly westward near 20 mph or 31 km/h.

 Satellite and radar imagery indicate that showers and thunderstorms associated with an area of low pressure, located several hundred miles east of the Lesser Antilles have become better organized overnight and has formed into tropical storm Dolly.

AtAt 1100 AM today,  the center of Tropical Storm Dolly was located near latitude 13.6 North, longitude 38.7 West or about 1500 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. Dolly is

moving toward the west near 24 mph (39 km/h) and this motion is

expected to continue for the next couple of days.  On the forecast

track, this system should be nearing the Leeward Islands this

weekend.

Satellite wind data indicate that the maximum sustained winds are

near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts.  Little change in strength

is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Dolly is forecast to

degenerate into a tropical wave before it reaches the Leeward

Islands.

Environmental conditions are forecast to gradually become more conducive for development and a tropical depression could form by the middle or latter portion of this week. The system is expected to move generally westward near 15 to 20 mph across the eastern and central Tropical Atlantic.
